Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said on Wednesday that his country’s economy grew 5.4 percent in the third quarter of the current fiscal year 2017-2018, after achieving 5.3 percent in the second quarter.
“It is hoped that the growth rate will be 5.5 or 5.6 percent in the fourth quarter,” Sisi said at a youth conference broadcast live on Egyptian television.
The fiscal year begins in Egypt on July 1 and ends on June 30.
Egypt is implementing a package of economic reforms linked to a $ 12 billion three-year loan agreement with the International Monetary Fund, signed in November 2016.
