The Egyptian Ministry of Finance started yesterday to oblige dealers with various government agencies to pay all government financial dues, including tax and customs dues of more than LE 100 thousand, through electronic payment and collection system established by the Ministry of Finance in cooperation with the Central Bank and the banking system .
The Minister of Finance, Dr. Mohamed Al-Moait, said that the decision allows the payment of less than 100 thousand pounds of checks with the prohibition of payment of any financial dues in cash except for amounts of less than five thousand pounds, but it will be mandatory to pay electronically as of January 1, 2019 for all amounts owed to the government The value of which will not be accepted by payment checks or cash payment, and excludes from the checks delivered to various government agencies before this date.
He pointed out that in the case of non-compliance with government agencies with this decision, administrative expenses will be imposed at 10% of the amounts due to government agencies up to a maximum of ten thousand pounds to cover the costs incurred by the State as a result of these customers pay their financial obligations without electronic payment methods.
The ministerial decision stressed the need to comply with the dates of payment of government dues in their specified time, otherwise the late will be subject to the burdens prescribed by law in the event of delay of those receivables and any other financial burdens determined by the law in these cases.
The minister’s decision demanded the administrative authorities to take into account the implementation of their financial transactions that take place between them by any means of payment or electronic collection and through the banking system to the treasury account of the Central Bank of Egypt
