The city of Abu Dhabi won the first place / golden award within the Vital Communities Award for the city category E through the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City of the Department of Municipalities and Transport, which participated in the awards ceremony held in the Republic of Malta on June 2, 2023.
The city of Abu Dhabi also won the second place / silver award in the project category – for the Abu Dhabi Corniche parks and gardens project.
The Abu Dhabi City Municipality participated in the (City) and (Project) categories, and achieved progress and precedence over all participating countries by winning two awards (golden and silver), which reflects the prestigious international position enjoyed by the city of Abu Dhabi as one of the most advanced capitals in the world. , suitable for living, and happiness for its citizens, residents, and visitors, and as a city that is considerate of the elderly as well.

The award is a partnership between LivCom and the United Nations International Institute on Aging – Malta (UN-INIA), as well as ISOCARP and the United Nations Center for Regional Development (UNCRD). Birgu Local Government and the American University of Malta (AUM).
The Municipality of Abu Dhabi City, represented by its Director General Saif Badr Al Qubaisi and all its employees, expresses pride in what the Emirate of Abu Dhabi has achieved in international forums, stressing that this achievement will be a catalyst for more achievements that reflect the comprehensive renaissance that the city of Abu Dhabi is experiencing under the wise leadership and sound vision in the concept of foreseeing the future. and its characteristics.
It is worth noting that the Livcom award began in 1997, and it is the largest international competition supported by the United Nations, aiming to highlight the best global practices in the field of local environmental management and sustainable development of cities according to six criteria. “livable communities”. 260 cities and 42 projects are competing for the LivCom Prize.
