A letter to my dear son

Rashid… my dear son. You are the real wealth that His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is betting on to become, soon, a citizen armed with science and knowledge and working hard and diligently so that the Emirates will always be at the forefront of nations. When you grow up, Rashid, you won’t need oil. you will export to the world modern technologies, useful industries, and knowledge that will benefit from it.

Oh Rashid… Hold on to the Book of God, and the Sunnah of His Prophet Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, for it will never remain. There are many values and advice in the Qur’an and Sunnah that preserve your religion and your world. Seek knowledge, strive to be the strongest, and obey the guardian.

O Rashid, you have begun this seventh year of yours with prayer, so complete your path in memorizing the Qur’an and whatever modern sciences make available to you for your bright future. With knowledge, you can manufacture, develop, and produce. Do not be lazy and ignorant, for it is the power of poverty and the destroyer of nations.

I chose Al Ittihad National School for you to climb the ladder of success and take us to the top. I am sure that the level of education in the UAE is considered the best in the world. His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, promised that he would not accept an educational level lower than that of his children. And this noble promise that he swore before His Highness, the President of the United Arab Emirates, may God protect him, stems from his conviction of the importance of knowledge for your generation, O Rashid, and for future generations.

Dear Rashid, God willing, we will soon celebrate your graduation from the first grade. At the same time, we celebrate national cadres that build union, and compete with the ancient world with a bright modern space.

You, Rashid, are the pride of me, your mother, your sisters, your tribe, your leaders, and your country. And, God willing, you will be with the sons and daughters of the Emirates in the future, a pride for the Emirates, the Arab world, and the world.

Yasir Almahri

Abu Rashid
