The first wind power project in Saudi Arabia

The Ministry of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources of the Ministry of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources of Saudi Arabia has awarded the Wind Energy Project to the consortium led by French energy company EDF Energies Nouvelles and Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar).
The project is the first wind power plant in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, at a cost of US $ 500 million, capable of generating sustainable capacity of about 70,000 housing units and generating 1000 jobs during the construction and operation phases
The Renewable Energy Projects Development Office received four bids from leading companies in five countries. The project was awarded based on the standard electricity cost of 2.13 cents / kWh, setting a new record for a project of this type in Europe, the Middle East and Africa
