The director of the Jordanian uranium mining company, Dr. Hussein Al-Laboun, confirmed that the process of building the automation plant for the production of the yellow cake will be completed in 2019. The company is currently preparing parallel instructions for the introduction of the factory into service once it is completed.
He pointed out that the company cooperated with a local engineering office to prepare the electromechanical designs and carried out by a local specialized company. He pointed out the completion of the factory’s control and integration philosophy documents and is being dropped on the automation system by a local company as well. He added that the plant will be the first of its kind in the region, and comes two years after the company announced the success of the experiment to extract the first kilogram of yellow cake at the field site through the process of industrial development in laboratories of the Jordanian Atomic Energy Commission.
He said that the process of entering the plant into service, which may take six months, will enable the company to obtain data and measurements necessary to complete the detailed engineering designs and feed the business related to the feasibility study of the project. It will also be important to build and train human cadres on this specialized industry.
Al-Laboun explained that the third phase of the calculation of sources has been completed, and that the results announced in June have “bobbed” part of the uranium sources in central Jordan for the first time at the level of “measured sources.” He stressed that the quantities of yellow cake in the area of the project estimated at 40 thousand tons .
