The Standing Committee for Economic Development of the Executive Council briefed Ajman on the latest developments in the economic sector and the most important achievements, initiatives and practices in the agricultural sector and the sustainability of cities in the UAE.
The meeting was attended by Mohammed Ali Al Janahi, Acting Director General of Ajman Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Ahmed Shattaf, Director of Policy Department at the General Secretariat of the Executive Council.
The meeting dealt with the innovative agricultural experiences in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and the achievements of research and development in the field of agricultural innovations, which were reviewed by HE Eng Mubarak Al Mansouri, Executive Director of the Abu Dhabi Authority for Agriculture and Food Safety and his accompanying delegation including Smart Irrigation – – Liwa and the use of sustainable energy in the plant for the irrigation of the collective and the quality of local agricultural products in the farms of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and the initiative of disposal of infected animals and the system of registration and definition of livestock and other agricultural projects To pioneer.
The attendees praised the great development of the agricultural sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and the impact of this on the performance and productivity of workers in the sector, stressing the need to guide businessmen, pioneers and business leaders to this vital sector, which is the cornerstone of food security, especially in light of the interest and support of the leadership of the agricultural sector, In the national product and the importance of benefiting from modern technology in agriculture and its products, in addition to the cooperation between the concerned parties to benefit from the expertise and increase partnerships and organizing specialized exhibitions.
Within the framework of the Committee’s recommendations to support sustainable practices and the green sector and to inform them of best practices, the attendees listened to a summary about the sustainable city of Sharjah, which was designed to take into account the social, environmental and economic aspects.
The city offers smart solutions and healthy lifestyles through rationalization, reduced consumption, energy production, intelligent transportation and recycling to transform sustainability from concept to lifestyle and provide a leading model for sustainable cities and their role in resource conservation.
For its part, Ajman Free Zone reviewed its strategic plan 2018-2022, in which it was keen to align with the orientations of Ajman through the vision of 2021, which aims to promote sustainable development in the pillars of the economy, society, government and the Union, and its vision to become a leading global center for attracting investment Foreign investor to the Emirate of Ajman and the largest contributor to the welfare and happiness of its residents by 2030, and contribute to the growth of the economy of Ajman by excellence in providing the best new and innovative services and smart solutions and providing advanced infrastructure and building strategic partnerships With the public and private sectors and the enactment of appropriate legislation, which facilitates investors to conduct their business easily and easily.
In this regard, the Free Zone has targeted a number of sectors that will be highlighted in the next phase to contribute to the economic development of the emirate of Ajman, namely, the high technology sector, the retail sector, the education sector, the health sector and the food and beverage sector.
