Agreement to strengthen the electrical connection between Jordan and Palestine

 07-07-2019 Amman
Jordan and Palestine agreed today to increase the capacity of the electricity link between the two countries to increase the power exported from Jordan to Palestine from 26 megawatts, covering the areas of Jericho and Al-Aghwar currently, to 80 MW to cover the areas of Jerusalem, Ezzariya and Abu Dis.
The two sides also agreed during a separate meeting held by Jordan’s Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Hala Zwati, with Palestinian Finance Minister Shukri Bishara and Palestinian Energy Authority Chairman Zafer Melhem in the Jordanian capital Amman today to discuss mechanisms for supplying Palestine with oil derivatives through Jordan.
During the meeting, they discussed prospects of cooperation and diversifying the sources of imports from and across Jordan to provide the potential especially for the issue of energy and energy derivatives (gasoline, diesel and electricity) in Palestine, benefiting from the Jordanian infrastructure.
