Fujairah, on February 9, the competitions of the tenth edition of the Fujairah International Taekwondo Championship, classified as two stars, were concluded yesterday, which was held during the past three days at the Zayed Sports Complex, organized by the Fujairah Martial Arts Club and the Emirates Taekwondo Federation, with the participation of more than 1,400 male and female players representing 36 countries. .
Last week, the Emirate of Fujairah hosted the third Arab Cup and the Fujairah International Championship in its tenth edition, as the Fujairah Club celebrates the tenth anniversary of its founding, and the launch of the tournament that coincided with the establishment of the club.
Regarding the results of the last day in the children’s category (under 11 years), the UAE teams and clubs were able to achieve the largest number of medals by winning 41 colored medals, including 8 golds, 10 silvers and 23 bronze medals, while Kazakhstan won 22 medals, including 5 golds. And 8 silver and 9 bronze medals.
Male and female Uzbek teams won 6 medals, including 3 golds, a silver and two bronzes, while Jordan won three medals, including two golds and a silver, and gold for Oman and Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Ahmed Hamdan Al-Zeyoudi, Chairman of the Supreme Organizing Committee for the two tournaments and President of the Emirates Taekwondo Federation, expressed his happiness with this ideal hosting, which reflects the great development witnessed by the sport of Taekwondo in the country.
He said: “It was a successful hosting by all standards. We were able to win many medals and produce results that reflect the development of our players in such strong competitions. For us, everyone is a winner once they arrive in the Emirate of Fujairah to participate in the tournament.”
Al-Zeyoudi stressed that the Supreme Organizing Committee of the Championship operates according to the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, Honorary President of the Emirates Taekwondo Federation, who pays special attention to sport as a tool for communication between peoples and the ideal place to hone and enhance youth skills within the Olympic values.
For his part, Dr. Chung Won Choi, President of the International Taekwondo Federation, praised the success of the Arab Cup and Fujairah International Championships as a destination for Taekwondo champions from all over the world. Which seeks to spread and develop this sport not only at the state level, but also at the level of the region as a whole, adding: “We are proud to be part of the International Taekwondo Federation family.”
For his part, Nader Abu Shawish, tournament director, stressed the importance of the results achieved by the Fujairah International Championship on the administrative and technical sides, as it is the opening of the world taekwondo season.
And he said: “The organizing teams have worked hard during the past period to ensure that they come out with an effectiveness worthy of the name of the Fujairah Club and the Emirates Federation in hosting major international events. The Fujairah Championship continues to prove its continuous development year after year, and we look forward to providing the best to serve the Olympic Movement and the established values.”
He stressed that the Fujairah Championship comes as a preparatory station for the Asian Junior and Promising Championship, which will be held next September in Beirut, Lebanon.
