Abu Dhabi Economic Department conducts 31,000 inspection and inspection visits to markets during the second quarter

During the second quarter of this year, the Department of Economic Development – Abu Dhabi conducted 31,325 visits and inspections of commercial establishments in markets and outlets in the three cities and regions of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, during which 9,148 counterfeit and counterfeit goods were confiscated.
This was stated in the report of the second quarter of this year on the movement of commercial protection activity issued by the Department of Commercial Protection at the Abu Dhabi Business Center of the Department, which monitors its efforts to curb illegal business practices to ensure the preservation of consumer rights and protection of intellectual property.
The report pointed out that the inspection and control visits carried out during the first quarter of this year were distributed by 15,126 visits in Abu Dhabi city, 10,860 visits in Al Ain city and 5,339 visits in Al Dhafra area.
HE Rashid Abdul Karim Al Baloushi, Undersecretary of the Department of Economic Development, Abu Dhabi, said that the control and inspection visits are part of the efforts exerted by the Department to protect the consumer and monitor all violations of the regulations and conditions of conducting commercial activity. And support doing business in a competitive and sustainable environment.
According to the report of the Commercial Protection Department for the second quarter of 2019, the number of counterfeit and counterfeit goods seized in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi reached 9,148 items of auto spare parts, electronic devices, clothing, accessories and cosmetics, of which 3,234 pieces in Abu Dhabi city and 5,914 pieces in Al Ain compared with 9,294 fake and adulterated pieces in the second quarter of last year.
The decline in the number of confiscated items is a strong indication of the success of the Department’s efforts to reduce the phenomenon of trading in counterfeit and counterfeit trademarks, based on its continuous commitment to preserve the rights of trademark owners and protect consumers from fraud and fraud.
The Abu Dhabi Economic Report pointed out that the total inspection campaigns on shops, shops and various commercial establishments during the second quarter of this year amounted to 230 campaigns in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra region, including 99 in Abu Dhabi, 92 in Al Ain and 39 in Al Dhafra.
The report pointed out that the number of irregularities against commercial establishments in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi decreased during the second quarter of this year to 291 violations after it recorded 1457 violations during the same period last year .. He pointed out that 248 violations were registered in the city of Abu Dhabi and 32 violations in the city Eye and 11 irregularities in Al Dhafra.
HE Rashed Abdul Karim Al Balushi explained that the significant decrease in the number of irregularities released in the second quarter of 2019 compared to the same period of 2018 by almost 400%, reflects the positive results of the Department’s efforts in combating commercial fraud and its permanent endeavors to prevent the occurrence of this negative phenomenon. The emirate’s position is an attractive environment for investment and business, stressing the Department’s keenness to raise the levels of commercial protection in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi to enhance the competitiveness of the business environment.
The report recorded a number of complaints by consumers against commercial establishments during the second quarter of this year, totaling 1,486 complaints distributed to 1,022 complaints in Abu Dhabi city, 462 complaints in Al Ain city and only two complaints in Al Dhafra area.
He pointed out that the number of alerts issued to establishments that violate the regulations and requirements of doing business in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi amounted to 972 alerts distributed to 499 alerts in the Abu Dhabi region, 429 alerts in Al Ain and 44 alerts in Al Ain.
For his part, Mohammed Muneef Al Mansouri, Executive Director of Abu Dhabi Business Center, said that the visits and inspections and control campaigns carried out by the Department in the second quarter of this year resulted in the closure of 34 commercial establishments for conducting some commercial activities without a license, including 25 establishments in Abu Dhabi city and 9 Establishments in Al Ain city, pointing out that this reflects the Department’s keenness to apply the laws of doing business in the emirate and obliging establishments to apply the laws, regulations and requirements specified for the exercise of its commercial activity.
