A statistical report issued by the Statistics Center Abu Dhabi in coordination with the Department of Economic Development Abu Dhabi revealed that consumer price inflation in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi reached 4.7% during the month of January 2018 compared to the same month of 2017. The index reached 112.7% in January 2018, In January 2017. The consumer price index rose by 3.0% in January of 2018 compared to the December 2017 index.

According to a press release obtained by Media in a press release, the Department of Economic Development Abu Dhabi said in its analysis of the report that the rise in consumer price inflation for January 2018 is quite logical compared to the results for January 2017 as a result of the introduction of VAT in the country By 5% as of January 1st, which contributed to the rise in the basket of consumer price index in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, especially subject to tax.

According to the report of the Statistics Center Abu Dhabi, the “Transport” group accounted for 38.5% of the total rate of increase in January 2018 compared to January 2017, which increased by 13.2% and “miscellaneous goods and services” by 17.8% Of the total rise in January 2018 compared to January 2017, as the prices of this group increased by 12.4%.

On the “Food and Beverage” group, the report said that it contributed 17.6% of the total rate of increase during January 2018 compared to January 2017, where prices rose by 7.1% and “recreation and culture” by 10.6% Of the total rise in January 2018 compared to January 2017, as the prices of this group increased by 12.0%.

The report on housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels said that it contributed to a decrease in the rate of inflation during January 2018 compared to January 2017 by 19.6%; which equals 31.2%.
