Drydocks World has been awarded the Innovation and Technology Award for the UAE’s heaviest payload for the Burwyn Gamma platform at the 2010 MASCEC Awards, which honors outstanding achievements in the marine industry.
Drydocks International has designed the upper part of the Burwyn Gamma platform, which converts wind energy into a constant high voltage current for Petrofac, Siemens and Tenet.
The high-voltage Borough Gamma platform is transporting 900 MW of electricity to the North Sea offshore wind farms to the mainland, the Federal Republic of Germany, which will provide enough clean wind energy to provide annual electricity consumption to more than 1 million German families.
It is worth mentioning that the substation was built as a giant sea platform with a length of 71 meters and a width of 71 meters and a height of 37 meters.
The lifting of the heaviest load in the United Arab Emirates was achieved through the lifting of the Buryan Gamma project by the sliding method of the upper structure, which weighs 21 thousand and the support frame of the upper surface using a sophisticated hydraulic pull system to transport the project on a heavy lifting vessel and thus transfer the upper structure of the platform to the North Sea .
“Drydocks World specializes in building large-scale offshore projects and its highly skilled team continues to ensure safe and effective solutions throughout the project,” said Capt. Radu Antolović, Chief Executive Officer, Marine Services Division at Dubai Ports World. DEWA is positioning them to provide innovative solutions to the energy sector in the UAE and around the world.
