The World Competitiveness Yearbook published by the International Center for Management Development (IMD) of the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) in the Swiss city of Lausanne showed progress in ranking Jordan by four to fifty-second and fourth in the region.
The Center attributed this growth in Jordan’s competitiveness to improving government and business efficiency, as well as improving performance in many indicators such as public finance, tax policy, commercial legislation and digital transformation.
The Center for Global Competitiveness said that the indicators that improve Jordan facilitate the establishment and development of business in the Kingdom, especially in the digital framework that dominates the global business world, which changes the nature of the work and the ways in which our economies operate.
The Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Emad Najib Fakhouri, said that Jordan offers four grades on the Global Competitiveness Index, ranking 52 in the current year 2018 compared to 56 last year.
The 63-nation report is an annual assessment of the factors contributing to productivity and prosperity, an important tool that serves policy makers and decision-makers both in the public and private sectors and in various economic sectors as an indicator of macroeconomic competitiveness and sub-sectors.
