Jordan ranks 18th in the world and the second in cyber security

A report issued by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) for the third edition of the Global Cybersecurity Report 2018 shows that Jordan offers 18 global rankings and two levels at the Arab level in the cybersecurity environment. The report, which measures the extent of the commitment of member states to improve their cyberspace, shows that Jordan ranks 92rd globally and 74th from 10th to 8th. Jordan has witnessed a significant improvement in its total score of 556 In 2017 and 206.1 in 2014. The Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship said that the improvement of the cyber environment in Jordan was the result of joint efforts between the ministry, the armed forces, the security services, the Central Bank of Jordan and the private sector, which resulted in the progress of Jordan 18 ranking globally, Measurement Adopted by the International Telecommunication Union.
The report aims at raising awareness of cyber issues and sharing best practices among Member States through the use of measuring tools to assess the readiness of countries based on five main axes: legislative, technical, organizational, capacity building and cooperation at the regional and international levels. The report classified the cyber environment in Jordan at the maturity stage, after the issuance of the National Cybersecurity Strategy, the establishment of the National Team to respond to cybercrime, in addition to the existence of a secure fiber optic network. He pointed out that Jordan is working to enable effective management of the national cyberspace environment. This was reflected in Jordan’s issuance of the national strategy for cybersecurity, in addition to launching a set of national cybersecurity policies that improve the public administration and technical management of government agencies, Which aims to establish a center for the management of cybersecurity at the national level.
