UAE calls for strengthening women’s and girls’ capacity against armed groups

In the open debate on women, peace and security at the Security Council session, Thursday, the UAE called for strengthening the capacity of women and girls against armed groups by funding women’s networks and organizations, providing them with digital tools, and investing in security sector reform in a way that responds to the perspective of women.

Ambassador Lana Nusseibeh, Permanent Representative of the UAE to the United Nations, said, “First of all, we thank Gabon for organizing this open debate, and the UAE welcomes Gabon’s joining the commitments of the joint presidency to the agenda of women, peace and security.
