The UAE hosts the International Atomic Energy Agency conference

The UAE is hosting the International Conference on Effective Regulatory Systems for the Nuclear and Radiation Sectors under the title (Preparing for the Future in Light of Current Changes), which will be held in Abu Dhabi from 13 to 16 February. The conference is organized by the International Atomic Energy Agency and hosted by the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation.

The international conference – being the sixth edition of a series of conferences previously held in several countries – aims to hold discussions with participating experts from different countries of the world to discuss the latest developments and exchange experiences related to improving the effectiveness of regulatory systems for the nuclear and radiation sectors, and to follow up on the results and recommendations of previous conferences.

It is expected that more than 90 speakers will participate in the conference, in addition to more than 400 participants from the IAEA member states.

The conference deals with various topics, including the experiences of countries in controlling the nuclear and radiological sectors, and the development of regulatory systems to be more flexible and ready to respond to the challenges facing the two sectors in the world.

It also deals with the oversight aspects related to innovation and emerging and new technologies, in addition to building trust between partners and developing future cadres and building capabilities in the nuclear field.

The conference includes a competition for “Young Professionals in the Nuclear and Radiation Sectors”, where participants present initiatives and projects that will improve the effectiveness of regulatory systems in both sectors and the ability to deal with challenges. In addition to the presence of a platform that includes the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation and the International Atomic Energy Agency, and an exhibition of countries’ experiences with regard to control.
