The UAE will participate in the “International Exhibition in Tokyo” which will be held from February 11 to 15, represented by the Ministry of Economy.
The delegation includes 35 participants from officials and representatives of concerned federal and local government agencies, business leaders, representatives of national investment companies and the private sector.
The volume of trade between the two countries reached about 28 billion dollars last year. Japan exported 7.2 billion dollars worth of goods and products to the UAE while imports from the UAE reached 20.73 billion dollars.
The visit comes within the framework of the ongoing government efforts to strengthen the channels of economic and trade cooperation between the UAE and Japan, promote UAE exports to access new commercial markets, develop the country’s commercial capabilities and capacities, stimulate its non-oil trade, and review the country’s strategy and initiatives to support national exports and enhance competitiveness. Linking them to various international markets, especially friendly countries such as Japan.
The delegation will also review the investment attractions in the UAE, the prospects and opportunities in this field, and the status of the country as a leading investment destination and safe haven for investors from all over the world and its attractive attractiveness of foreign investments, because it provides a suitable environment for business and investment and has a legislative and regulatory system Operating according to best global practices.
Juma Mohammed Al Kait, Assistant Undersecretary for Foreign Trade at the Ministry of Economy, stressed the importance of UAE-Japan trade relations. Japan is the sixth largest trading partner in the UAE and is the fourth largest exporter to the UAE and one of the top 15 importers.
Al-Kit added that the economic relations between the two countries are witnessing continuous growth and prosperity. Japan’s advanced investments and technology play a vital role in supporting the development process in the UAE, especially in the sectors of high technology, renewable energy and other vital sectors such as aviation and healthcare. He added that the visit of the UAE delegation to Japan comes within the framework of the State’s continuous keenness to strengthen its relations with Japan in various fields, especially economic, investment and industrial, and to develop trade exchange between the two countries. The State endeavors to deepen cooperation with Japan in areas that serve the UAE development strategy. Economic diversification, and building a knowledge-based economy.
For his part, Mohammed Nasser Hamdan Al Zaabi, Director of Commercial Promotion Department at the Ministry of Economy, said that the ministry has taken all preparations to organize the visit of the UAE delegation to Japan through a preparatory meeting on 4 February in Dubai, in the presence of all the participating parties. Al-Zaabi added that the visit of the UAE delegation aims to support UAE exports and promote national industries and products in the Japanese market. He pointed out that the UAE is the largest Gulf trade partner with Japan, which imports the highest share of Japanese exports to the Gulf countries.
He explained that the UAE is Japan’s second largest oil supplier and one of the largest exporters of aluminum to it.
