“Economy” discusses aspects of economic and trade cooperation with Turkmenistan

Abdullah Al Saleh, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy for Foreign Trade Affairs, and Rahimbradi Jebarov, Minister of State and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs of the Republic of Turkmenistan, discussed means of developing joint economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
This came during the bilateral meeting held by the two sides in Dubai, in the presence of Abdullah al-Hammadi, director of tourism department in the ministry, and a representative of the diplomatic mission of Turkmenistan to the state.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the opportunities of partnerships in a number of vital sectors of mutual interest, notably energy, infrastructure, financial services and food security. The meeting also discussed the importance of diversifying the base of economic and investment cooperation to serve the development objectives of both parties.
Abdullah Al Saleh, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy for Foreign Trade, said that the UAE and the Republic of Turkmenistan enjoy excellent bilateral relations and enjoy the common desire of the two friendly countries to develop cooperation horizons in all fields of development.
He added that despite the significant growth of the indicators of intra-trade, it still does not reflect the size of the potential and the available facilities. The volume of non-oil foreign trade between the two countries reached about 299 million dollars by the end of 2017. He pointed out the need to strengthen channels of communication, Private sector to continuously review the incentives, facilities and opportunities of partnerships offered in sectors of mutual interest and encourage the business community of both sides to attend and participate in specialized economic conferences and exhibitions organized in both countries.
He pointed out that there are many opportunities to strengthen the framework of joint cooperation between the two countries, especially in the fields of food security, energy and existing oil derivatives industries, as well as the importance of further enhancing existing cooperation in the field of aviation and air transport to serve the trade exchange and tourism between the two countries.
He added that the tourism sector is one of the sectors that carries many promising opportunities for both sides, both in terms of developing the movement of tourism exchange between the two sides or in terms of benefiting from the investment opportunities offered by this vital sector.
