European Parliament obliges Apple to use C chargers

European lawmakers have approved a new law requiring electronic devices to use a common charger. The European Parliament has approved the rule that, if passed, would mean that all mobile phones, tablets and cameras sold in the EU must be equipped with a USB Type-C charging port by end of 2024.
This may affect companies such as Apple and others that do not currently use a USB Type-C port, as the iPhone uses its own Lightening charger. In theory, Apple would need to include the common type of charging if it were to sell its iPhones in the European Union.
