The European Bank is carrying out projects worth 2.6 billion euros in the Kingdom

The bank will sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Jordanian government to implement projects worth 2.6 billion euros, as well as special funding for the Greater Amman Municipality within the Bank’s Green Cities Program, said Hike Harmgart.
In a press briefing on the sidelines of the annual meetings of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the 2018 Business Forum held at the Dead Sea, the Bank revealed that the projects to be implemented by the Bank in the coming years will focus on infrastructure, energy, schools and hospitals. He pointed out that the Jordanian private sector will be a key partner in its implementation.
And praised the investment environment in Jordan, especially the law of partnership between the public and private sectors, referring to the package of economic reform legislation, which paid the government to the House of Representatives for approval.
She confirmed that the cooperation with the Secretariat of 22 million euros to improve the efficiency of waste management, including a grant of 11 million euros, the contribution of the British Agency for International Development half, along with a loan of 11 million euros without government guarantee, confirming that this is the first case of lending of its kind implemented by the bank in the region , And that lending without government bailout relieves pressure on the public debt of the state.
The bank will also sign memorandums of understanding with Oasis 500 to support start-ups, provide additional financing to SMEs through banks operating in the Kingdom, and sign a memorandum to fund medical laboratories in the West Bank.
Hayek said the bank’s most successful success stories are renewable, solar and wind projects, which account for about 50 percent of the bank’s investments, as well as the water sector.
