Saudi Trade and Investment: More than 3,000 inspection visits to electrical outlets

The control teams of the Ministry of Trade and Investment carried out inspection visits covering the various regions of the Kingdom on the outlets (air conditioners, washing machines, refrigerators and freezers) to ensure compliance with the Saudi specifications and standards for energy efficiency card on electrical appliances.
The teams carried out 3135 visits to outlets, during which 85 different establishments were monitored. Violations varied between the absence of the energy efficiency card on the product, the existence of the old card, its unclear presence to the consumer, the placing of the card in the wrong location, Saudi standards and standards.
These inspections are part of an extensive effort by several government agencies working as one system under the Saudi Program for Energy Efficiency, which is interested in finding a mechanism to ensure the monitoring and compliance with the specific specifications of the initiatives launched by the program to rationalize and increase the efficiency of energy consumption. From the competent authorities such as the Ministry of Trade and Investment, the Ministry of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources, the Saudi Organization for Standardization, Metrology and Quality, the Saudi Customs Authority and the Saudi Center for Energy Efficiency.
