Validating employment contracts, entry permits and visas

Foreign persons who wish to come to the UAE to work, visit, invest or reside may be subject to fraud, whether in employment contracts or entry visas. Therefore, we have listed below some tips that a foreigner should follow before coming to the UAE to avoid fraud.

If someone offers you a job in the UAE, you must be presented with a valid job offer from the UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, and it must bear the signature of the responsible manager.

You can use the job offer number to verify the validity of the application through the website of the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (inquiry services – application status).

After you sign the job offer, the employer will send you an electronic entry permit for the purpose of work so that you can enter the country. To verify the validity of the entry permit issued by any of the seven emirates of the country, please see points 8 and 9 below.

An entry permit for the purpose of tourism or visit does not give you the right to work in the UAE. And in the event that you work after entering the country on a tourist or visit visa, you may be subject to heavy fines and deportation from the country.

It should be noted that the employer is responsible for paying all recruitment expenses under the UAE Labor Law.

Ensure that the company has a legal presence and existence. You can search for the company’s name in English and Arabic on the National Economic Register website, and obtain the company’s data.

If you have any inquiries related to labor and employment contracts in the UAE, you can contact the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation by phone 0097168027666 / or by mail ask@mohre.gov.ae, or via the instant chat service.

If you have obtained a visa/entry permit issued by Dubai, you can verify its validity on the website of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs.

As for visas/entry permits issued by Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, or Fujairah, you can verify their authenticity through the eChannels of the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security.

Entry permits for the purpose of tourism are issued by airlines operating in the UAE, such as Emirates Airlines, Etihad Airways, Flydubai, and Air Arabia. Entry permits for the purpose of tourism are also issued by hotels and travel agencies licensed in the UAE.

In order not to pay more than what is due, learn about visa fees and entry permits issued by Dubai.

Get help with visas and entry permits issued by Dubai through the instant chat service on the Amer website, affiliated to the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai.

Learn more information about visas and entry permits issued by Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, and Fujairah through the instant chat service on the eChannels platform of the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security.

There is no such thing as a “freelance work visa” that enables you to work for any company, rather you are supposed to work for the employer that issued you the visa. However, there is a possibility that the employer may give you a permit to work for another employer after obtaining the approval of the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation.

It is not possible to complete the residence visa procedures for anyone who is still outside the UAE, as the applicant must enter the country with a valid entry permit, and remain in it until the procedures for issuing the residence visa are completed.
