“Gulf Electricity Connection”: expansion of energy systems and the opening of new markets

The Gulf Electricity Interconnection Authority reviewed the reliability and security of Gulf electricity networks, meeting the challenges of energy saving, expansion of new energy systems and the creation of solutions to address energy emergencies.

The meeting was attended by Eng. Awaidah Morshed Al Marar, Head of the Energy Department and Sheikh Nawaf Bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), which dealt with the Authority’s efforts to provide sustainable energy and energy in member countries. Expanding the electrical connection to neighboring countries and regions.

During the visit, the two sides discussed the investment in the energy sector and the provision of strategic goods that can be marketed across the Arab countries to Europe, while enhancing the investment opportunities in the field of innovations and modern laboratories, through which the Authority can cope with the development of renewable and nuclear energy.

The visit included a tour of the Authority’s control center, during which a presentation was made on the nature of the Center’s work and the Department of Energy Trading, in addition to a visit to the Asset Control Center, during which he learned about the latest methods and techniques of maintenance and development of the electrical link network.

Sheikh Nawaf Al Khalifa said that the meeting discussed many issues related to energy security, its future and the promising investment opportunities in it as renewable energy represents the future option.

For his part, Oweidah Al Marar pointed to the importance of activating the energy trade and making more use of it on the ground by strengthening Arab and European electrical interconnection and establishing an interactive energy market
