Saudi Arabia: “Zakat and Income” regulates the sale of foodstuffs for violations of the value added tax systems

The Saudi General Organization for Zakat and Income Tax has recently set a number of violations related to the application of value added tax during its field campaigns targeting wholesale and retail food stores in Riyadh and Al-Kharj.
The Commission explained in a statement that the control of the violations came after field trips carried out by the inspection teams affiliated to them since the beginning of the current month of Ramadan to ensure the application of shops to value added tax in their regular form.
The violations were concentrated on the lack of commitment by shops to use the approved tax forms, which include the tax number of the establishment, and not to show the registration certificate in the value added tax in the shop, in addition to the absence of address of the establishment in the invoice.
The General Authority for Zakat and Income confirmed the intensification of the field inspection campaigns during the month of Ramadan to ensure the application of various sectors to value added tax according to regulations
And regulations in force due to increased traffic in the local market during Ramadan.
The Authority called on all consumers to use the Value Added Tax (VAT) application, which allows consumers to know if their business is registered with VAT, which includes the service of reporting infringing facilities, or telephone the Commission’s Call Center on (19993).
