The Public Transport Authority started to activate its proposal to benefit from the “Sar Train Station” in the north / east of Riyadh by allocating part of its site to operate the “Public Transport Center in North Riyadh”.
The development step of the Public Transport Authority in the capital, Riyadh, aims to facilitate the provision of bus service to passengers heading to the north and east of the Kingdom, and facilitate the arrival of passengers to the new station and the reception of arrivals, starting Tuesday, 15 Shaaban 1439 H corresponding to 1 May 2018.
On this occasion, the President of the Public Transport Authority, Dr. Rumih bin Mohammed Al Rumaih, thanked the Prince of Riyadh, who expressed great support and encouragement to activate this proposal to develop public transport in Riyadh and keep pace with the increasing demand for it. He pointed out that with the increasing demand for land trips by bus to and from the capital Riyadh, it is necessary to provide modern stations outside the central region, which is characterized by high traffic density and beyond the neighborhoods of the capital in the north and east, noting that the public transport station in the north is scheduled to work in addition to the continuation of the center Public transportation south of Riyadh in providing services to travelers.
He stressed the positive effects of the project of the new public transport station in the north of Riyadh on the planning and traffic aspects because of its contribution to reducing the distance traveled by buses to the north and east of the Kingdom and reducing the time of trips, as well as easing the traffic pressure on the road network leading to the current public transport center in south Riyadh .
His Excellency Dr. Rumaih Al-Rumaih thanked His Excellency the Secretary of the Riyadh Region for the keenness of the Secretariat and welcomed the proposal of the Transport Authority and the immediate activation of the coordination plan in this regard, and also thanks to the company “Sar” to implement this proposal in record time, which facilitated the launch of this center through the allocation of space capable of To absorb this vital activity, and to SAPTCO to launch flights from the center.
For his part, Vice-President of the Transport Authority for the Land Transport Sector Fawaz Al-Sahli said that the center will be available for the rest of the transport activities destined for the east and north of Riyadh city, and not limited to transport between cities. He explained that the Authority is working with the concerned authorities to find permanent sites for public transport centers For their investment and operation.
