Recently, contracts for design, dredging, excavation, quay wall construction, and cargo handling equipment were awarded, as the Jacobs engineering company was chosen as the main consultant for the design. , and each of Moffat and Nichol, IGO, and Trent as secondary consultants for the redesign of stations and warehouses, the implementation of railways, infrastructure, a sustainable energy network, and others in “Oxagon”, and the value of the project is more than 180 million Saudi riyals, and it will be implemented within 48 months, and participated in submitting bids for the first phase From the tender for dredging and marine pier works, an alliance between the two companies BESIX and the Leaders of Modern Construction Company MBL, which cooperated with the Boskalis company, and the two companies BESIX and Boskalis are among the first European contracting companies to win design and construction contracts, amounting to 2 billion Saudi riyals, from NEOM, and according to this alliance Boskalis will be responsible for the works of deepening and widening the main marine channel, and the works will be carried out in accordance with the standards and requirements of both NEOM and Oxagon in the field of sustainability, as there will be no waste of drilling residues; Rather, it will be reused to build drilling platforms as part of the Oxagon development. The BESIX-MBL consortium will be responsible for the design and construction of a quay over 3 km long, using innovative and sustainable construction methodologies and materials. As part of the investment in port development, several contracts for cranes and container equipment were awarded to Liebherr Saudi Arabia Ltd. and Shanghai Jinhua Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. ZPMC. ZPMC has been awarded contracts for 10 STS ship-to-shore gantry cranes, 30 ERTGS electric rubber-bed gantry cranes, and six ARMG automatic rail-mounted gantry cranes, valued at more than SAR 1 billion, and ZPMC will work with Siemens Europe to provide Automation components. The project is expected to start operating in 2025, with the launch of the first container terminal with integrated supply chain and logistics solutions. When completed, the port will be powered by 100% renewable energy and with zero emissions, making it the most sustainable modern port in the world.
