The eyes of the world are turning to the Egyptian city of Sharm el-Sheikh, hoping for urgent solutions to meet the challenges of the effects of climate change, as peoples and governments await the results of the activities of the 27th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change “COP27”, which will be held during the period from 6- November 18 under the slogan “Together towards implementation to achieve just and ambitious results”, with the wide participation of more than 100 heads of state, prime ministers, ministers, heads of international bodies, civil society organizations and youth. This edition of the Conference of the Parties comes in climatic and geopolitical conditions that warn of major disasters, manifested in many hurricanes, floods, droughts, erosion of agricultural crops and the escalation of the food security crisis, which is of great importance for this session.
On November 12, 2021, the General Secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change announced the selection of Egypt as a representative of the continent of Africa to host the activities of the twenty-seventh edition of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention “COP27”.
The “cop27” summit devoted to each of its days several issues for discussion, research and consultation to take decisions. On November 9, it will discuss the issue of financing, as financing is the cornerstone for implementing climate action, expanding ambition and making progress in all aspects of the global climate agenda.
