Abu Dhabi on December 28 / The Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates, in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Ports Group, issued 1,000 commemorative silver coins to coincide with the fiftieth anniversary of the establishment of Zayed Port and the tenth anniversary of the opening of Khalifa Port. The publication aims to highlight the achievements of Abu Dhabi Ports and its role in developing the maritime sector over the past decades, and its importance in advancing economic development, as Khalifa Port is among the fastest growing ports in the world, taking advantage of its location on one of the largest and most important global trade routes. The weight of this coin is 60 grams. The front side includes a drawing of the Abu Dhabi Ports Group logo with the name “Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates” written in both Arabic and English. As for the back side of the coin, it includes a drawing of the port, surmounted by the name “Abu Dhabi Ports Group” in both languages as well, in addition to the words “the fiftieth anniversary of Zayed Port and the tenth anniversary of Khalifa Port” on the upper and lower sides in both Arabic and English, and the face value of this commemorative coin is 50 dirhams. . His Excellency Khaled Mohammed Salem Belama Al Tamimi, Governor of the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates, said: “The celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the establishment of Zayed Port and the tenth anniversary of the opening of Khalifa Port through the issuance of commemorative coins comes in appreciation of their efforts and their great contribution to upgrading the structure of the ports of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and strengthening its position as a regional and global center.” Raed, on this occasion, we are pleased to work and cooperate with the Abu Dhabi Ports Group, and we look forward to more achievements.” For his part, His Excellency Falah Mohammed Al Ahbabi, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Ports Group, said: “The issuance by the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates of coins bearing the name of the Abu Dhabi Ports Group and two of its most important strategic assets, Zayed Port and Khalifa Port, confirms their prominent role in promoting economic development.” It also reflects the success of the group in continuing to develop and modernize them to perform their vital role as a gateway to the Emirate of Abu Dhabi to the world, in line with the vision of the wise leadership to consolidate Abu Dhabi’s position as a global commercial, industrial and logistical center.
