By royal order, the first female head of the Saudi Human Rights Commission is appointed

Today, Thursday, Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz issued a royal order appointing Dr. Hala bint Mazyad bin Muhammad Al-Tuwaijri as head of the Human Rights Commission with the rank of minister.

This came in a statement issued by the Saudi Royal Court today.

The statement indicated that Awwad bin Saleh bin Abdullah Al-Awwad, head of the Human Rights Commission, was relieved of his post.

Dr. Hala bint Mazyad Al-Tuwaijri has been the Secretary-General of the Family Affairs Council since June 2017, the head of the women’s empowerment team in the G20, and an administrative advisor at the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, ranked fifteenth since April 2021.
