Belhoul: 18,000 Emirati graduates from Emirati universities annually during the “Accelerating the Employment of University Graduates” session

Dr. Ahmed Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of Education, stressed that the wise leadership attaches great importance to the education sector at various levels, as it is the main pillar for achieving sustainable development, and that the role of universities is not limited only to graduating students, but also to follow up their employment in the labor market.

The Minister of Education said, while presiding over the “Accelerating the Employment of University Graduates” session, as part of the annual meetings of the UAE government: “About 18,000 citizens graduate annually from universities and colleges in the country, and we are working to support graduates and qualify them for the labor market.” He added in the session in which representatives of the concerned authorities participated alongside him: the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, the Emirati Competitiveness Council (Nafes), universities and colleges, and departments concerned with the education sector and local human resources: “The Ministry of Education has developed a set of programs that It enables national graduates in universities and colleges in the country to respond to the requirements of the labor market in the future, by providing them with the necessary skills.”

He pointed out that the nature of jobs is in rapid and continuous change, so the work to qualify students for self-education and the transition from education to learning; Therefore, we are working to provide students with the skills they will need for the future, which will ensure that they are qualified and prepared to compete in the future economy.

He explained that work will be done to measure the level of abilities and skills of current students through advanced skills tests to guide them to what suits their abilities in jobs.

He explained that the next stage will witness a focus on those who possess the skills that qualify them to join the labor market, so we will work to enhance the professional and practical experience of students in the country, and enhance their entry into the public and private sectors.

The participants in the session discussed the importance of developing mechanisms for evaluating universities and colleges and tools to measure their outcomes, based on the extent to which graduates have succeeded in entering the labor market, whether in the public or private sectors.

They reviewed the most prominent initiatives implemented by the Ministry of Education, which focus on strengthening partnerships and integration with various sectors, cooperating with educational institutions to align education outcomes with the needs of the labor market, and tracking their scientific and practical paths.
