The fourth session of the meeting of the undersecretaries of finance ministries in the Arab countries, organized by the Arab Monetary Fund (AMF), was launched in Abu Dhabi today to prepare and coordinate the meeting of the Council of Ministers of Finance in the Arab countries scheduled for the end of next April in Kuwait.
The two-day meeting will be attended by undersecretaries of Arab finance ministries, experts and representatives from the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank Group, the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development and a group of specialists in Arab finance.
The meetings aim to activate and strengthen the role of the Council as a forum for dialogue, exchange of experience, expertise, coordination and exchange of ideas on financial developments and economic and financial reform efforts in the Arab countries.
The agenda of the first day included the presentation and discussion of the first three working papers presented by the International Monetary Fund on supporting small and medium enterprises in the Arab countries, the role of fiscal policies and structural reforms, while the second discussed the issue of rethinking social protection and policies of workers for jobs and growth in the East Middle East, presented by the World Bank, and the third working paper, reviewed a study on the development of public debt management and strategies in the Arab countries, which was submitted by the Arab Monetary Fund.
