Abu Dhabi, January 18 / The “Yas Links” stadium on Yas Island will witness the launch of the 18th edition of the “Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship” tomorrow, which is the first tournament of the current year from the Rolex Series, within the “Dubai B World” tour, in an exceptional edition with prizes. $9 million, an increase of $1 million over the previous two editions.

The tournament will continue until the 22nd of this month, with the participation of a group of the game’s brightest stars among the title holders, led by England’s Tommy Fleetwood, who won the title in 2017 and 2018, and Ireland’s Shane Lowry, the 2019 champion.

Also participating are the three-time DB World Tour winner Ryan Fox and 2018 Open Champion Francesco Molinari.

Belgian Thomas Peters hopes to defend the title of the last edition, with the first appearance in the championship of the Irish stars Seamus Power and the Austrian Sepp Straka.

For the second time in a row, the “Yas Links” stadium is witnessing the championship competitions, after it was hosted by the Abu Dhabi Golf Club over the past years, since its inception in 2006.
The Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship is the season-opening event for the Rolex Series, which includes five distinct tournaments on the 2023 DP World Tour.

The current version of the championship is waiting for a new record, if Englishman Tommy Fleetwood crowns the title for the third time, in order to equal with German Martin Kaymer, who won the title in three versions in the years 2008, 2010, 2008.

The Yas Links Course is the first professional course of its kind in the Middle East, as it is located on the western shore of Yas Island, as it includes a “72-stroke” Links championship course and was opened in 2010, and is one of the best 25 golf courses in the world.
