The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has announced that the date of executing fines against non-subscribers in the unemployment insurance system has been postponed to October 1, 2023 instead of July 1, in order to “allow the opportunity for all those included in the system – citizens and residents – to register and benefit from the benefits it provides.” for them”.
The Ministry revealed that the number of subscribers to the system to date has reached more than 4.6 million subscribers, stressing that “this remarkable success of unemployment insurance since its implementation in January 2023 reflects the awareness of those covered and the community of the importance of the system that provides job security and a social protection umbrella, and enhances the quality of life of workers.” in the labor market.”
Subscribing to unemployment insurance is the responsibility of the employee and not the employer, and the fine for not participating is 400 dirhams.
The system includes workers in the private sector and employees of the federal government, whether citizens or residents, and excludes the investor (owner of the establishment in which he works), domestic workers, workers with a temporary contract, juveniles under 18 years of age, and the retired who receives a retirement pension and joins a new job.
The system aims to secure a temporary income for the insured for a period of three months when they are unemployed, amounting to 60% of their average basic wages in the last six months preceding their loss of jobs (for non-disciplinary reasons). Employers no costs to mention.
The subscription fee in the system is symbolic, as it amounts to five dirhams per month, with a total of 60 dirhams annually for those whose basic salary is 16 thousand dirhams or less, and 10 dirhams per month with a total of 120 dirhams annually for those whose basic salary exceeds 16 thousand dirhams. The ministry affirmed that “the insurance against unemployment is witnessing a remarkable turnout from employees since its launch at the beginning of this year,” calling on those who have not yet registered to visit the subscription channels that allow registration “easily and through easy steps.”
Those included in the unemployment insurance system can register in the system by visiting the insurance pool website www.iloe.ae, the iloe smart application, kiosk machines, ATMs, business service centers, exchange companies (such as Al Ansari Exchange), banking applications, telecom companies bill and via Text messages.
In order to obtain the compensation value, the worker must be subscribed to the insurance for at least 12 months, and submit a request for compensation within 30 days of his dismissal from work, provided that this is not a result of disciplinary reasons or resignation, and that the claim for compensation is not by fraud or fraud.
