New updates for issuing sick leave for employees in Abu Dhabi

The Department of Health in Abu Dhabi announced the modernization of the electronic sick leave system for employees in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, including the electronic link with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation and the Human Resources Authority to transfer employee data.

The department informed health facilities and licensed doctors (government-private) that the new updates include reducing the steps and fields required to fill in sick leave data, accelerating the completion of the sick leave issuance service from the electronic system, and electronic linking with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation and the Human Resources Authority to transfer employee data.
She explained that a new feature has been activated that allows sending a copy of the electronic sick leave to the patient via text message and e-mail, calling on health facilities and licensed doctors to coordinate in this regard, by communicating with the medical committee’s work team via e-mail: Medicalcommittee@doh.gov.ae.
The new updates came in accordance with previous updates that included that all doctors must issue sick leaves by using the electronic sick leave system on the Abu Dhabi Government services platform “Tamm” only, and issue sick leaves for employees of the government of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi for a period of one to two days; It is not possible to access the closed electronic sick leave system for this type of leave, in addition to activating the UAE PASS digital identity.
In another context, the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi decided to withdraw certain batches of the medical device Accu-Chek Instant Strips & Accu-Chek Performa Strips manufactured by Diabetes-Roche; This is based on the manufacturer’s statement that there are 3 batches that were not supplied through the authorized distributor in the country.
She explained that these operations do not meet the safety requirements in importing, storing and distributing the devices according to the approved laws, which in turn negatively affects the blood sugar test reading when used by patients.
The Department of Health called on all pharmaceutical facilities, health care facilities, health professionals and the public to take the following immediate measures: All pharmacies must stop dispensing these batches, and the authorized agent must withdraw the affected batches from the markets of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and all health facilities must isolate and quarantine unused batches and return them to the supplier.
And she stressed the public to buy the product only through approved channels and from reliable sources, and not to use those operations if they have any, and the need to report the occurrence of any side effects resulting from the use of medical products to the pharmacovigilance program through the electronic reporting system: https://www.doh .gov.ae/en/resources/Reporting.
