The Lebanese currency bloc declined by a week, by 6.04 percent

The ready liquidity in the Lebanese pound decreased during the week extending from 13 to 20 February 2020, at a value of 708 billion Lebanese pounds, to reach 197 billion and 904 million Lebanese pounds, equivalent to 6.04 percent, evaluated on an annual basis.
A brief report issued by the Directorate of Statistics and Economic Research at the Central Bank of Lebanon attributed this decline to the increase in demand deposits by 15 billion pounds, and the currency in circulation increased by 203 billion.
The report indicated that throughout the week, total deposits, excluding demand deposits, decreased by 925 million Lebanese pounds, as a result of the decrease in deposits denominated in foreign currencies by 240 million dollars, as term deposits and savings deposits decreased by 563 billion pounds.
