Cooperation between the Ministry of Defense and the Civil Aviation Authority to secure air traffic during emergencies

The Ministry of Defense signed, with the General Authority of Civil Aviation and local civil aviation authorities and departments, a plan to secure air traffic during emergencies, on the sidelines of the “IDEX and NAVDEX 2023” exhibitions.

The plan aims to help the concerned authorities to enhance civil-military cooperation regarding defining the powers, responsibilities and procedures necessary for discrimination and safe control to manage air traffic within the country’s airspace during emergencies, in order to facilitate the flow of air traffic in the country and activate the required security measures.
Major General Staff Pilot Mubarak Ali Al Neyadi, Head of the Military Strategic Plans and Operations Authority, confirmed that the agreement will enhance the coordination aspect between the Ministry of Defense and the competent authorities in a way that meets the aspirations of the UAE for safety and security in all circumstances, especially in emergencies, pointing out that this plan supports what The Ministry aspires to achieve excellence in this sector and its access to international standards.

For his part, Saif Mohammed Al-Suwaidi, Director General of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, said: “The commitment of the General Authority of Civil Aviation with the Ministry of Defense and the local civil aviation authorities and departments reflects its direction in strengthening its capabilities to meet challenges of all kinds in order to achieve leadership and excellence at the national, regional and global levels. And the support of strategic partners and the spirit of cooperation, integration and existing partnership to achieve this important step in air traffic operations in the country.
The Ministry of Defense signed two additional agreements with the Authority, the first specifying the level of services in the Department of Aviation Information, and the second for the management of military aviation operations with the Sheikh Zayed Air Navigation Center of the General Authority of Civil Aviation.
