The General Secretariat of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry in the UAE confirmed that the UAE has sought from early on to promote the concepts of copyright and intellectual property in general in the commercial and economic circles and to preserve the global gains in the field of combating piracy and protecting intellectual property as an important axis towards providing a suitable investment climate to attract foreign capital. Hence, maintaining the UAE’s position as a distinguished commercial, financial and investment center in the world.
This came on the occasion of the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the Emirates Intellectual Property Association, with the aim of enhancing the frameworks of joint cooperation in various fields related to intellectual property .. Providing the necessary support in the dissemination of knowledge and awareness of companies and business owners of intellectual property culture and the development of the necessary means to protect it President of the pillars of comprehensive development and civilization renaissance led by the UAE to reach the leading position globally.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Humaid Mohammed Bin Salem, Secretary General of the Federation of Chambers and Major General Dr. Abdul Qudoos Abdul Razzaq Al Obaidli, Assistant General Leader for Excellence and Entrepreneurship, Chairman of the Emirates Intellectual Property Association.
Bin Salem stressed the keenness of the General Secretariat and its interest in protecting intellectual property rights, especially in the field of industrial property rights related to patents, innovation and industrial designs, in line with the global trend to provide the right climate to encourage investments, trade and economy, pointing out that the Federation of Chambers of the first institutions in the State issued a special book On the Legal Protection of Intellectual Property in the United Arab Emirates in 1996.
For his part, Al Obaidli said that the MoU stems from our awareness of the importance of the role played by the Federation of Chambers in the business environment and the achievements of the private sector in various fields at the local and regional level, so we must provide this sector with all the necessary knowledge that allows it to play its role in sustainable development. Intellectual property is a cornerstone of this knowledge as it is today a vital tool for driving economic growth and social welfare.
Under the memorandum, the two parties agreed to exchange studies and researches aimed at spreading the culture of intellectual property and the development of awareness-raising methods in the field of intellectual property and legal legislation and knowledge exchange in the same field through the organization of seminars and lectures to raise awareness on the intellectual property rights of the private sector and benefit from studies and research related to the application of intellectual property in the country. UAE.
