Signing an air transport services agreement between the UAE and Iran

The UAE, represented by the General Civil Aviation Authority, signed an air transport services agreement with the Islamic Republic of Iran, at the authority’s headquarters in Dubai.

The agreement was signed on behalf of the UAE by Saif Muhammad Al-Suwaidi, Director General of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, and on behalf of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Muhammad Muhammadi Bakhsh, President of Civil Aviation, in the presence of representatives of the civil aviation sectors and local airlines.

The agreement comes within the framework of the UAE’s adoption of an open skies policy, with the aim of organizing air transport flights between the two countries. This agreement will also enhance air links between the UAE and the Islamic Republic of Iran, which will benefit national carriers by expanding air transport services and increasing trade and tourism opportunities.

Saif Mohammed Al-Suwaidi said that the agreement is an important step forward in terms of organizing flights and paves the way for expanding the air transport services network for the benefit of the transport companies in the two countries. Business and commercial companies encourage free competition.

He explained that the agreement affirms adherence to the highest standards of safety, security and efficiency in air travel, pointing to the importance of enhancing the safety and security of civil aviation for the benefit of our countries and the global aviation community.
