Dubai Customs reviews its experience in developing customs services in front of a Tanzanian delegation

Dubai Customs presented its experience in developing customs services in front of a visiting delegation from Tanzania.

His Excellency Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director General of Dubai Customs and CEO of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, stressed Dubai Customs’ keenness to develop cooperation and coordination with government agencies responsible for aviation and transport in Tanzania to support efforts to develop customs services provided to travelers and traders and to enhance their ability to benefit from the great progress achieved by the department. To raise the level of customs services provided in Dubai and the United Arab Emirates in general.

The visiting delegation included HE Ali Bossi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Works and Transport, Hamza Saeedi Johari, President of the Civil Aviation Authority, and Musa Ibrahim Mboura, Co-Chairman of the Airports Authority.

The meeting was attended by DP World, Suhail Al Banna, CEO and General Manager of DP World for the Middle East and Africa, and Abdulaziz Al Marzouqi, Director of Research for Business Development and International Relations for the Middle East and Africa, and Mansour Al Malik, Executive Director of the Policy and Legislation Sector participated in the meeting. Yousef Al Hashimi, Executive Director of the Customer Management Sector, Ibrahim Al Kamali, Director of Passenger Operations Department, Younis Othman, Director of Information Technology Department, and Falah Al Sammak, Senior Manager of Airport Terminal Operations/2/.

Musabih said that Dubai Customs is working to achieve its vision for the future of its global role to remain the leading customs administration in the world in support of legitimate trade, through the permanent development of its services that enhance trade facilitation and support the movement of tourism and travel in implementation of the Dubai Customs strategic plan 2021-2026, where the department sets the development of services Provided to travelers and tourists among its priorities, and from this standpoint, Dubai Customs launched the smart early disclosure system to enable tourists and travelers to pre-disclose their baggage and cash balances, allowing them to shorten time and effort on their flights, as the number of passengers through Dubai International Airport reached about 27.86 million passengers during the half the first of 2022.

He explained that Dubai Customs is also keeping pace with the increasing development that Dubai is achieving in the field of e-commerce, as we have launched a cross-border e-commerce platform, which is the first of its kind in the region to enable e-commerce companies, logistics and express shipping companies to develop their businesses, taking advantage of the speed and quality of customs services.

For his part, His Excellency Ali Bossi expressed his great appreciation for the development achieved by Dubai Customs in the level of commercial and customs services provided to travelers and traders, stressing the keenness to benefit from the experience of the Department by enhancing cooperation and coordination in exchanging expertise and experiences to support the development of mutual economic and trade relations.

Falah Al-Sammak, Senior Manager of Airport Terminal Operations/2, gave a presentation to the visiting delegation about the efforts of the Passenger Operations Department and its role in providing the best level of customs services to travelers through the continuous development of the capabilities of employees and customs and upgrading the level of baggage and baggage inspection devices using the latest smart applications of information technology and artificial intelligence.

In turn, Younis Othman, Director of Information Technology Department, gave a presentation on the role of the “Mersal 2” system in developing customs services and facilitating their provision to customers.
