Dubai’s commercial control and consumer protection sector recorded 4,735 dossiers for trademark owners and 29 dossiers for commercial agencies during the first half of 2019.
The rate of received files increased by 63% against the same period in 2018, and this outcome came through the electronic portal of intellectual property in the Dubai economy, emphasizing the role played by the Dubai economy in the protection of intellectual property rights.
The first half of this year witnessed an increase in the reception rate of trademark files according to the mark of the brand compared to the first half of 2018, where the trademark files of Saudi Arabia increased from 12 to 72 files with a growth rate of 500%, and recorded an increase in the British Virgin Islands From 23 to 135 files, an increase of 487%, followed by Spain, which registered an increase in registered trademark files from 18 in the first half of 2018 to 93 files, an increase of 417% in the first half of 2019, the number of files registered for China from 31 to 103 increase 232%, Canada 15 to 41 files, up 173%, and then Korea Southern, which reported growth of 18 to 47 files, up 161%, and Britain has achieved growth as well as from 140 to 260 files by 86% during the first half of 2019.
