The Emirati “Khazna” invests $ 250 million to establish the first data center in Egypt, in partnership with “Bunya” in the Maadi Technology Zone

Khazna Data Center announced its plans to enter the Egyptian market, in cooperation with the Benya Group, to establish the first large-scale modern data center in Egypt, at a cost of $250 million, in the Maadi Technology Zone, the first specialized investment zone in Egypt.
It is expected that the new data center will have a capacity of 25 megawatts of information technology loads, which will provide new opportunities for Egyptian companies wishing to expand on an international scale, in addition to multinational companies seeking growth and innovation in the Middle East and North Africa market. Construction of the new data center will begin later this year and will be completed within the next three years.
Hossam Haiba, CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones, and Mariam Khalifa Gomaa Mohamed Al Kaabi, UAE Ambassador to Egypt, who previously discussed opportunities to attract Emirati investments to the Egyptian information and communication technology sector And enhancing cooperation between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the United Arab Emirates in this field.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Eng. Ahmed Makki, Chairman and CEO of Benyeh Group, Hassan Al Naqbi, CEO of Khazna Data Center, and Eng. Amr Abu Alam, Chairman of Maadi Technology Zone.

Cloud Computing

Ahmed Mekky, Chairman and CEO of Benya Group, said: “The high capacity of the new data center will not only meet the needs of the Egyptian market, but the center will also be able, through its great capabilities, to serve the countries of Africa and the Middle East, and will contribute to attracting More investments for business sectors that include intensive operations, support for operators of cloud computing systems and content, in addition to encouraging major commercial companies to join these giant digital complexes that rely on the latest cloud computing applications, digital technology and big data.

Strategic location

Eng. Amr Abu Alam, Chairman of Maadi Technology Zone, said: “The Maadi Technology Zone is a strategic location for establishing telecommunications and information technology companies in Egypt, offering a range of advantages such as tax incentives, modern infrastructure, and proximity to various business centers in Greater Cairo. The Technology Zone in Maadi also promotes a culture of innovation and cooperation between companies that do business from the region, which include local and international companies in various outsourcing and information and communication technology sectors, and benefit from the advantages of the supportive environment provided by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to develop business in the region and attract investments in the field of promising technical industries and from The most important of which are data centers and cloud computing.
In turn, Hossam Haiba, CEO of the General Investment Authority, praised the project, explaining that it comes in line with the Egyptian state’s plan to localize information technology and data centers, especially in light of the great development witnessed by the technological infrastructure sector in Egypt.
