DoT discuss with partners Abu Dhabi Maritime Plan 2021

The Abu Dhabi Department of Transport (DoT), in coordination and cooperation with a number of relevant strategic partners, organized a workshop on the service, development and development dimensions of the maritime transport sector within the framework of the 2021 Marine Plan, which is being prepared in cooperation with the partners. The workshop was attended by the Department of Urban Planning and Municipalities, Abu Dhabi Executive Office, Abu Dhabi Ports, Abu Dhabi National Company (ADNOC), the Environment Authority, the Department of Culture and Tourism, the Protection of Vital and Coastal Facilities Authority, the General Administration of Customs, the Abu Dhabi Investment Office, the Federal Land and Maritime Transport Authority, among others.
This workshop is part of DoT’s efforts in cooperation with the strategic partners concerned to accomplish the 2021 Marine Plan in a way that enhances ways to create a safe and sustainable infrastructure in the maritime transport sector, which reflects positively on improving performance and serving the Emirate’s economic, tourism, community and environmental objectives.
His Excellency Khalifa Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Undersecretary of the Department of Transport, stressed the importance of cooperation between the Department and the strategic partners concerned with maritime transport to modernize and develop the infrastructure and service for this sector, noting the important role played by the partners in supporting the Department’s efforts to develop the maritime transport sector and enhance the quality of services provided in the field of commercial transport. Community mobility, tourism and leisure services that enhance the quality of life in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
The workshop discussed several axes that addressed the importance of the contribution of the blue economy to the Emirate’s economy with a focus on preserving water resources in order to achieve a safe and sustainable marine environment that serves present and future generations, in addition to managing and organizing waterways to enhance the flow of navigation and maintain the safety and security of the movement of marine means in water. Abu Dhabi and improve the quality of services provided in the maritime transport sector.
The workshop also highlighted the opportunities available to the private sector and their importance in improving the quality of services provided to customers. At the same time, the workshop discussed the most important maritime transport projects that the Department is working to develop during the coming period, which contribute to the enhancement of the current reality of the maritime transport sector in order to support the growth in this sector and meet the requirements of the development plan witnessed by the emirate, in addition to establishing Abu Dhabi as an attractive destination for tourism trips. With its geographic location, modern ports and multiple islands, Abu Dhabi makes Abu Dhabi a preferred choice for leisure and marine lovers
