The President of the Islamic Development Bank chairs the meetings of the heads of international development banks for the year 2020

His Excellency Dr. Bandar bin Mohammed Hamza Hajjar, President of the Islamic Development Bank Group, took over the chairmanship of the MDBs from January 2020 for a year. This selection was made during the regular meeting of the heads of international development banks in Washington on the sidelines of the World Bank annual meetings. The platform, which meets three times a year, includes 12 banks: the World Bank (WB), the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the African Development Bank (AfDB), the Asian Development Bank (AsDB), the European Investment Bank (EIB), and the World Bank. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the Inter-American Development Bank (IaDB), the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), the European Council for Development (CEB), the New Development Bank (NDB) and the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB).
The Bank’s presidency of this international development platform coincides with the Kingdom’s assumption of the presidency of the G20.It also provides an informal space for discussion and exchange of views among the twelve bank presidents on issues of development cooperation and coordination of policies and programs and their role in contributing to the achievement of sustainable development goals.
