Increased rainfall in the Emirates during 2022 262 flights to pollinate clouds

Since the beginning of this year, the National Center of Meteorology has carried out 262 flights to pollinate clouds, known as “rain clouds”, at a rate of two to three hours per flight, covering most regions of the country, to stimulate clouds to drop more amounts of rain, including 18 flights during the past week. , which witnessed the fall of rains of varying intensity in separate parts of the country.

The center clarified that the seeding operations carried out by the Operations Department of the Meteorological Department target all clouds that are capable and obedient to seeding operations, regardless of their locations in the country, indicating that most of the clouds that are capable of seeding operations are found in abundance and frequency above the eastern mountain ranges, and over the regions Scattered, such as the inner western region and the northern and eastern regions, especially in the winter and spring.

The center emphasized the strong relationship of cloud seeding operations with the weather conditions that affected the country.

The Al-Ajban region in Abu Dhabi recorded the highest amount of rain that fell during the week at 4.9 mm, while the lowest temperature in the country was 7.2 degrees Celsius in Jebel Jais in Ras Al-Khaimah yesterday, Sunday, at 2:15 am.

Separate areas of the country witnessed, yesterday, continuous rains of varying intensity. And the National Center of Meteorology expected that the weather today, Monday, will be partly cloudy in general, and low clouds will appear, with the possibility of light rain in some northern regions and islands.
