Sultan launches the maritime training phase for the students of the Arab Academy for Science and Transport

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, affirmed the great interest in the students of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, during their studies in general, and the period of their practical training in ships at sea in particular, which reflects the vision of His Highness in making graduates At the highest academic and applied levels.
This came in His Highness’s speech, this morning, Wednesday, during the inauguration of the maritime training for students of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, in cooperation with the Sharjah Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority, at Khalid Port in Sharjah.
During his speech, His Highness pointed out the importance of starting the practical training stage, and said: “This day is a great occasion that we have been waiting for all these years that have passed, and it is the beginning of your entry into the sea that you saw on the simulators in the college, or in the study books, and now you will deal with it directly.”
His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah recommended to the students to be diligent and diligent, not to be complacent in learning, and to be patient, due to the large number of sea disasters, stressing the need for vigilance in dealing with maritime training.
His Highness expressed his wishes that the academy’s students be at the highest levels by benefiting from all the available educational resources, from training and study, which qualifies them with distinguished qualifications, to be a symbol for others to set an example with, and to make institutions operating in the maritime field depend on them as qualified cadres for the positions of engineers, commanders and pilots. Bahrainis.
At the conclusion of his speech, His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah indicated that His Highness followed up the progress of the training for the academy students through direct communication with those responsible for the training, wishing them success, success, excellence and a safe return.
The inauguration ceremony began with the national anthem of the United Arab Emirates, after which the academy students performed various performances.
The students, who will start their practical marine training, spent two years of theoretical study in the college and learned during it on simulators, laboratories and workshops, until they reached the stage of marine practical training, which will qualify them to work on all types of commercial ships such as passenger transport, container ships and oil and gas tankers, in addition to training. To deal with navigational challenges, weather challenges, fluctuating weather conditions, and other practical realities at sea.
Students majoring in marine navigation will spend 12 months in training and working on board ships that conform to international specifications, while students specializing in marine engineering technology will complete a period of 6 months in training, under the supervision of specialized and qualified international trainers, after which they will return to the academy to complete their remaining courses. studies in preparation for graduation.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority, Muhammad Obaid Al Zaabi, Head of the Protocol and Hospitality Department, Dr. Hashim Abdullah bin Sarhan Al Zaabi, Director of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, and a number of directors Departments and officials of the Academy.
