Abu Dhabi Global Market Participates in the Global Survey of the Global Privacy Promotion Network

The Abu Dhabi Global Data Protection Office participated in the annual survey of the Global Privacy Promotion Network, which aims to assess the level of compliance with the key principles of privacy in institutions around the world.
The Global Privacy Promotion Network (GBN) includes several members of the privacy and enforcement authorities and aims to strengthen international cooperation for the application of information protection laws and was established in 2010 on the basis of OECD recommendations.
The network-driven survey is conducted annually and is shared by all members of the network to encourage compliance with privacy regulations and promote inter-institutional collaboration around the world. The Abu Dhabi Global Market is the first member of the GCC to join the global network and the first in the region.
In line with the network’s theme this year on the importance and responsibility of regulators to ensure privacy, the survey focused on the commitment of organizations to comply with data protection laws. The Abu Dhabi Global Market was one of the 18 members who reviewed the data protection procedures of more than 350 registered companies in the market .
All members of the network conducted surveys on companies within their legal authority and their final results showed that most institutions have monitoring programs and provide specialized data protection training for their employees.
The data protection office at the Abu Dhabi Global Market today released an internal survey conducted by a number of listed companies that showed that 90% of the companies listed on the market were at a good level in maintaining a specific data protection framework and assigning a data protection officer .
