Abu Dhabi Police enhances school students’ awareness of combating “violence and bullying”

Abu Dhabi Police carried out an awareness workshop for students of the Emirates National School in Al Ain, on combating bullying, in cooperation with the “Family Welfare Authority” at the Ministry of Community Development, and within the International Day to Combat All Forms of Violence and Bullying in Schools.

Brigadier General Hamad Khalfan Al-Shin, Deputy Director of the Al Ain Police Directorate, confirmed Abu Dhabi Police’s interest in participating in the Month of Bullying Prevention in the school environment, to enhance awareness of the harms caused to students by bullying, and the resulting behavioral changes for children and aggressive behavior towards their colleagues. He called on parents to cooperate continuously with the school administration and seek help from specialists in the concerned authorities to treat the problems resulting from it.
He explained that awareness programs for the prevention of bullying are continuing in public and private schools in Al Ain, by holding lectures, workshops and face-to-face meetings, with the aim of protecting students, raising their level of awareness, and providing them with correct knowledge and concepts to build an educated generation armed with thought.
Mariam Al-Ghaithi, from the Family Welfare Authority, presented, during an awareness lecture entitled “Be my friend and do not bully” in the school theater, the most basic concepts of school bullying and how to deal with bullies, and the importance of enhancing friendliness and respect for students for their colleagues and instilling values of love and tolerance among members of society.
