Government procurement contracts reach AED 860 million in 2018

Government procurement contracts for members of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for SME Development during the last year amounted to AED 860 million reflecting the role of the Foundation in activating the position of Emirati entrepreneurs in the local market through building bridges of cooperation and building strategic partnerships with various entities that would contribute to Supporting the SME sector and economic development in the Emirate of Dubai.

The Mohammed bin Rashid Establishment for SME Development, one of Dubai’s economic institutions, confirmed that the government procurement program is one of the most important tools supporting the SME sector. He pointed to the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.  Allocating 20% ​​of the tenders of Dubai government bodies, departments and institutions to the national companies of the Mohammed bin Rashid Establishment as a confirmation of the confidence of the wise leadership in national competencies and their role in building a competitive and diversified economy.

The results of the program showed that at least 59 entities collaborated with the members of the Mohammed bin Rashid Establishment for the development of projects in various categories to include the federal  government and semi-governmental agencies as well as the private sector, which reflects the keenness of various parties to contribute to the development of entrepreneurship in the government procurement program to continue to stimulate the performance of the SME sector in the Emirate of Dubai and the UAE in general.

The top five supporting bodies in the 2018 government procurement program were: RTA ranked first with AED 119.2 million, second with AED 89.9 million, and Emirates Group with a value of AED 89.9 million. And Dubai Municipality ranked fifth with a value of 85 million dirhams, totaling Dhs 469.3 million, equivalent to 55% of the total support provided in 2018. .

With regard to the value of procurement and contracts to the supporting bodies in the Government of Dubai, RTA contracts and tenders amounted to 119.2 million dirhams, which is the highest at the level of government agencies and all supporting bodies in 2018 for national entrepreneurs. Dubai Municipality came second with deals worth more than 85 million Dubai Health and Water Authority (DEWA) ranked fourth with AED 22 million and Dubai Police General Command with AED 21.5 million.

The Ministry of Health and Community Protection took the lion’s share in the federal bodies for 2018 through purchases and contracts amounting to 21.2 million dirhams for the members of the institution followed by the Ministry of Education with a value of 14.6 million dirhams and third place is the Sheikh Zayed Housing Program where the value of contracts and purchases AED 7.2 million.

Dubai Holding ranked first as the best semi-government supporting government procurement program for 2018 with contracts worth AED 61.5 million with national companies in various sectors and activities. ENOC ranked second with AED 27.2 million Third place in South Dubai with contracts and deals worth AED 12.6 million for members of national entrepreneurs.

Al Ittihad ranked first as the best supporter of the Government Procurement Program for the year 2018, with over AED 89.9 million in contracts with national entrepreneurs, Emirates Group with AED 89.2 million, Emirates Aviation Catering Group With total purchases amounting to AED 86 million and Emaar Properties, with purchases valued at AED 17.5 million, followed by Aswaq with total purchases of AED 12.6 million.
