Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) reviewed the economic scene in Dubai during its participation through its representative office in Mozambique at the Botswana World Trade Fair 2019, organized by the Botswana Trade Investment Center recently with the participation of 241 exhibitors from 13 countries including 96 exhibitors from all over the world.
The booth of the chamber at the exhibition won the Best International Exhibitor Award, which was very popular with visitors and participants to identify the investment opportunities in Dubai and the competitive advantages offered by the emirate to investors around the world, especially for traders in Botswana who wish to export their products to the markets of the region.
The exhibition discussed important topics such as diversity, economic growth and trade partnerships. The exhibition was an ideal opportunity for Dubai Chamber to highlight the added value that the emirate can provide in terms of trade and investment between the two sides.
The chamber’s foreign offices pointed out that the UAE’s trade with Botswana grew from US $ 500 million in 2015 to US $ 1.4 billion in 2018, with diamonds accounting for more than 90% of Botswana’s exports to the UAE, making the country an ideal destination for re-export. He pointed out that there are additional investment opportunities in the field of meat and livestock, where these products in Botswana are characterized by high quality with a great demand in the markets of the country and the region, pointing out that the Chamber is studying African markets carefully to explore investment opportunities for its members and the business community in the emirate.
The Director of External Offices at the Dubai Chamber said that the participation in this exhibition contributes to the definition of the African market what Dubai can offer to its African partners, pointing out that the pavilion of the Chamber promoted the fifth session of the African International Business Forum organized by the Chamber in November as an additional distinct platform to consolidate Emirati-African partnerships, which attracted the attention of participants by inquiring about opportunities in Dubai and its broad prospects.
He called on Botswana companies to take advantage of the Dubai market to export their products to international markets, pointing out that the emirate provides infrastructure and logistics at the highest level that can help deliver Botswana products to all markets in the world within a record time and in accordance with international quality requirements.
Organized under the slogan ‘Harnessing the Power of Emerging Markets to Spur Economic Growth’, Botswana is a stable, safe and open African market for foreign direct investment, with low taxes and no restrictions on business ownership.
