KABSARC and the Gulf Electricity Interconnection Authority are collaborating to strengthen the research partnership to improve electricity markets

The King Abdullah Center for Petroleum Studies and Research (KAPSARC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Electricity Interconnection Authority to strengthen the research partnership in the electric power sector and develop research that will improve the efficiency of GCC electricity markets.
Where the joint cooperation will include the work of research, seminars and studies in the development and establishment of a common GCC electric power market. The agreement aims to conduct joint research based on analysis of the main factors affecting the integration of the electricity market in the GCC countries and the development of proposals and visions to develop policies and procedures that help market growth To trade electricity to increase demand for electricity in the Gulf, Middle East and North Africa regions.
The GCC Electricity Interconnection Authority aims to promote the sustainability and reliability of electricity systems and the development of the electrical power market in the GCC.
